Pre-sets

Abdomen
This preset uses blended frequencies in a curvilinear format to demonstrate abdominal organs, such as the liver and kidney. It can also be used for abdominal procedures, such as paracentesis. It offers a midline marker for localization, Color Doppler as well as linear and circumferential measurements.

Abdomen Deep
This preset was designed to provide better imaging in patients with abdomens that are technically challenging, usually due to a large girth. It applies fundamental frequencies which automatically adjust with depth to ensure consistent reliable visualization to 30cm.

Aorta & Gallbladder
This preset is a complement to the Abdomen preset. It is optimized specifically for those structures in the abdomen that typically require a high contrast resolution. This reduces the shades of grey in the image to demonstrate the gallbladder wall and lumen of the great vessels.

Bladder
This preset has been optimized for the contrast and detail required for bladder assessment. The Field of View (FOV) is expanded to 120 deg to enable visualization of the bladder in the near field. This includes the application of harmonic imaging, which uses resonant characteristics of tissue to produce imaging of higher resolution of the bladder wall, and surrounding pelvis. It provides Color Doppler carefully optimized for the identification of bladder jets.

Cardiac
This preset has been designed with parameters best for imaging of the fast-moving dynamics of the heart. It employs a high frame rate, and applies a sector scan which allows reliable real-time echocardiographic interrogation. M-Mode and Color Doppler are both supported.

Cardiac Deep
This preset was designed to provide cardiac imaging in patients that are technically challenging, usually due to high Body Mass Index (BMI). Multiple parameters have been changed to adjust to this use case, such as a reduction in frequency range, in order to provide diagnostic quality echocardiography – even in difficult patients.

FAST
The FAST preset has been developed with clinical partners with parameters optimized specifically for the focused assessment of standard cardiac and abdominal windows  in trauma. It provides high frame rates for cardiac imaging, and yet maintains the resolution necessary to identify pathology such as free fluid in the abdomen.

Lung
The Lung preset is optimized to support imaging of lung pathology, such as respiratory failure. In the very near field, a high frequency linear format is optimized  for the visualization of lung sliding. As the depth changes, so too does the image format and frequency range in order to support deeper interrogation for A or B Lines.

Musculoskeletal
This preset applies imaging parameters to display the fine balance of temporal, detail and contrast resolution required for high frequency musculoskeletal exams. This includes high resolution imaging of muscles, tendons, ligaments and bursae. The preset also supports the guidance of therapeutic injections.

Nerve
This is an enhanced musculoskeletal preset designed specifically for the delineation of the characteristic “honeycomb” appearance of peripheral nerves. This preset also supports customized imaging for the guidance of regional nerve blocks.

OB/GYN
Obstetric imaging typically requires high definition details acquired at a frame rate adequate to capture (sometimes very!) mobile subjects. The Obstetric preset offers high frequency curvilinear imaging to provide high quality transabdominal imaging, and Fetal Heart Rate (FHR).

Ophthalmic
Ophthalmic ultrasound is a common test to visualize the structures of the eye. This preset was created primarily to help with the identification of foreign bodies in the eye, lens dislocation, or retinal detachment in the acute setting. An advanced use case is to check for elevated intracranial pressure via optic nerve sheath diameter, which can help identify pathology in and around the brain.

Pediatric Abdomen
This preset has been optimized for the needs of pediatric abdomen. Frequencies are higher, and the depth reduced to provide precision detail required in the pediatric population.

Pediatric Cardiac
This preset is optimized for the unique needs of the interrogation of the pediatric heart. Frequencies are higher, and the depth reduced to provide the precision detail required in the pediatric population.

Pediatric Lung
This present is optimized to support the unique needs of the pediatric respiratory system. It has been designed with our clinical partners to support the investigation of a range of respiratory conditions in children, including pneumonia.

Small Organ
This preset has been optimized to support the demonstration of soft tissue structures in the small parts anatomical category, such as: thyroid and testis. Focus has been made specifically to detail resolution and vascular sensitivity.

MSK-Soft Tissue
Focus on this preset development has been for optimization in the very first centimeters of tissue, for identification of foreign bodies, cellulitis and abscess.

Vascular: Access
This preset optimizes the image for top visualization of vascular structures, with specific focus on peripheral arteries/veins. It maximizes contrast resolution to provide crisp demonstration of vascular borders and needle guidance. This preset is ideal for real-time dynamic central venous access.

Vascular: Carotid
This preset is optimized with the contrast resolution, frame rates and vascular enhancement with Color Doppler necessary for interrogation of the carotid artery.

Vascular: Deep Vein
This preset is optimized with the contrast resolution, frame rates and vascular enhancement with Color Doppler necessary for interrogation of the deep veins of both the leg and the arm. It has been designed to be applied in the investigation of deep venous thrombosis.

Cleaning

How to clean Butterfly iQ+

1. After each use of the probe, use one of the recommended liquid saturated wipes (SuperSani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipes by PDI, Inc., Super Sani-Cloth AF3 Disposable Wipes by PDI, Inc., or a lint-free cloth moistened with water) to remove ultrasound transmission gel from the probe.
‍
2. Disconnect the probe from the mobile device.

3. Wipe the probe, strain relief, cable, and connector with one of the recommended liquid saturated wipes for one (1) minute and until visibly clean.

4. Change the wipes as necessary and repeat the above step until the probe is visibly clean.

5. To dry the probe, use a soft cloth to blot the lens dry. Do not wipe the lens. Dry the rest of the probe, cable, strain relief, and connector.

6. Visually inspect the probe in a well-lit area to ensure all surfaces are clean. If the probe is not clean, repeat the cleaning steps above.

7. Dispose of cleaning material in accordance with all applicable regulations.
